This is a Dragon fruit. During my recent trip to Thailand, I saw this fruit quite alot in the side streets of the city. Sidewalk vendors were selling them. I was very curious yet hesitant to even try this fruit as it looked very weird and intimidating (i think.) Bright colored fruits look dangerous...
...and this one was dangerously good! I didn't expect this weird looking fruit to taste so good! it was a very refreshing bite after so much walking under the tropical heat. You just can't imagine how this fruit tastes by looking at it on the outside and the inside...you'd have to try it to know. Just by looking at it, i couldnt tell whether it was sweet or salty or sour or bland. although it looked more on the bland side because it was snow white with little black dots, which were edible seeds. it tastes and feels like a cross between a kiwi and a pear.
any other crazy fruits out there that you know of?
