The first place I went to find art and get ideas was South Coast Plaza. Boy was that a waste of time, everything was so comercial and nothing there fit the bill of what I was looking for. I then began to circle around south coast thinking to myself maybe i can find some blemish outside in the parking lot or parking lot structures that contrasted with the perfect industrialized nature of the Plaza. Nothing. Not a single thing in 2 hours of searching, I actually do not know what I was looking for, maybe graffiti of some kind.

I then drove into a random neighborhood and noticed that maybe I not being simple enough in my definition of art. I then started taking pictures of houses and their landscaping it was amazing the amount of work and effort people put into making their house appear and feel a certain way. They do not do this for other people or to sell anything it is purely for ones own sense of home.

Some people want their house to be reclusive in a forest of sorts, some have their exact idea of what they want the outside to looklike. I drove through this neiborhood and not a single house looked the same as any other. The neigborhood was a tract home community yet so full of orignallity and style I had fun driving from one house to the other. I might be way off base on what you wanted to see, but hopefully I was close.

randi cappel week one
For this assignment I wanted to find the stuff that represented to me o"outsider art" which it could be how people decorate there houses presenting their personality, or how people express there self by stickers on a door. I went on adventure threw Seal Beach and huntington beach i just started off walking on Main Street in Huntington and just started to just go threw allies seeing if the there was something that people would never think of seeing walking threw the allies ways and behind the stores. Seal Beach I just parked at the beach and just starting walking didn't have a set places I was headed for just wanted to wonder since thats when you found some different things just walking. Thats when I found the two frogs by each other in front of this old ladies house. I figured it was an old lady since the yard wasn't kept that well a lot of twigs and a lot of nick nacks . The compass on top of the house I also found in Seal just wondering street to street I decided to look up since many people don't look up and i found this compass on two house thought it was neat and different. The picture with the ducks under the bench thought it was different just the wishing well was there and the ducks hiding behind the bench. The picture with the dog bowl beside the bench thought it was different it just sat there the whole day people adding water to it for the dogs who pass they can have a sip. The top photo i found in Huntington just going threw the allies it was the door that the employees go threw to the store the closest , i thought it had its own personality with all the stickers people put on it and the different writing people added to it. The picture with the pizza bike , when i was saw that i thought it was different and describe that restaurant sense of style how it was located on the beach and took in part that there is not much parking and it would be better for the company to have a bike since they only do local delivery. The last picture with the benches that are original that expressed the iris pub it was at with the chain holding it up and reminded me of a ship with the chains. All these pictures aren't made by some guy who had no training and has no outsider art but it expressed outsider art to me with the door of a company, to the lady yard to the bowl outside the store that express that place.

Christian Segura Week 1

I found this wandering the halls in the
new art building at Chaffey Community
College in Rancho Cucamonga. More
pieces like these are throughout the building.

I saw this driving around in Old Downtown
Upland. This wind chime was in an alley way.
It was created with miscellaneous parts and
objects like a wagon wheel and a saw blade.

These stickers are in the full pipe/bowl
at the Upland skatepark. Riders smack
them on the vert as they ride, marking
their ride height.

I know of an interesting place that sells
interesting sculptures, fountains, and
yard items like this in Rancho Cucamonga.
I took a trip there to find some pieces
of interest like these little cowboys made
of random metal pieces.

This is a tagged up deserted building
that was used for something at some
point. Its near a stream, so one could
only make a couple of good guesses.
It is located in the Cucamonga Canyon
and is constantly tagged on over and
over because its near a hiking
trail.
