Week 4 Homework/Mid-Term

OPTION ONE: Start a daily journal for the next ten days documenting how you create on a daily basis. Keep track of this process all day.
  • Keep records of image or written inspiration that compel you to create or that you have used as reference for your personal/school work.
  • Organize this into a single document.
OPTION TWO: Write a 10 page investigative paper on one of the three artists in the readings of this week.

  • Cite sources and images.
  • Images and sources must be on pages other than the 10 pages of text.
Due week five – this is your MID-TERM!

The scheduled trip is for the R. Crumb exhibit at the Hammer Museum in LA.
Time & Date: Saturday, October 31, at 11:00am.

Located here.If you are going at the scheduled time, please meet me there at the front entrance.

*If you are writing the paper instead, the guidelines are:
  • 5 pages on one of the artists we have covered in class.
  • Use your own thoughts! Do not simply re-arrange verbage that you find online. Investigate and be thoughtful.

Dub Fx

Awesome musician who shows that if you don't have the talent of instruments, use your body. Build a song and sing.

In this video, he kind of explains it.

This is one of the best songs.

Youngwood Court

Alternate Title: The House of David's

Add Image

The home of an eccentric man named Norwood Young who decorated the front of his already gaudy house with several statues of David among other such flashy decorations such as gold lion heads and a Venus De Milo.

Just this summer though - the statues (Venus included) have been clothed in 'Thriller Jackets' presumably as a makeshift shrine to Michael Jackson and that - along with the rest of the decor and the wing-wongs and manberries hanging out make it all the more appropriate somehow.

The house was just a few blocks from my old place in LA there and the owner goes all out during the holidays - dressing them up as Santa and giving them gold sparkly foil stoles come Christmas for example.

For those of you who want to visit the place, the address is 304 S Muirfield Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90020 - in Hancock Park at the corner of 3rd and S Muirfield. You cannot possibly miss it.

For those who want to check it out on Google Earth, the coordinates: 34°4'7"N 118°19'42" - you can also check out street view on Google Maps for a shot of the statues without their costumes if you like.

The Art of the Tattoo

Personal Art Work Week 1

This Drawing is a combination of 3 different drafts done on notebook paper

One of the many I have completed, this is probably my favorite one.

This is the first of these kind I ever did, I started these drawings to actually help coup with depression.
