17 personal piece

If you have forgotten your assigned number, email me and I will remind. I made all final decisions based on the peer evaluation and my personal observations of the work I photographed.

Finding the last few pieces was a tuff job. There were some very good pieces that did not get chosen- but there is a limited amount of space and the overall look had to be taken into consideration. Thank you all for your participation!

Results from Peer Evaluation

Here are your peer results. I would imagine that you remember what your number was.

Number 5 and number 17 have been flagged on my end, as there was only one example and there was some confusion as to whether it was personal or commercial. I will make the determination on my end.
  • Final choices for the wall will be made tonight. So please check back tonight/tomorrow.
Remember, if you are chosen, you must show up to hand in your work and help install. Refreshments will be served. There will be a small selection of alternative/back up pieces chosen.
  • If you are not chosen, you are free the last day, but you are welcome to come to class to help.
  • Don't forget to email your one page process paper for the work.

Watts Towers - Anastacia Xu

Watts! and its towers...

I loved the Watts Towers! Wish I had visited them before. I also really like the houses around that area.

Unexpected Beauty Revisited

The first 3 images are trees. The first two are Palm Trees outside of my work place, and as I was walking back from my lunch break, I noticed how beautiful nature's patterns are. Sometimes, they are much more intricate or precise than handmade ones. The third tree is actually pretty gross looking too, but as I examined the scars of this tree, I realized how beautifully and wonderfully they were able to heal themselves, and in that retrospect how they parallel the human body.

These last two pictures I consider beautiful because of the environments they create. The first was taken a couple of months back on my way home from school. I was tired, and hadn't even noticed what was going on, but suddenly I realized how mesmerizing the sky looked and I knew I had to capture it somehow. The best I could do was with my phone camera, but I have something to remember it by now. The last was a parking number on a sidewalk of Venice. And it just seemed like the perfect icing on the cake. This community really looks at everything and tries to mark it as their own.

Saunders_J Watts Towers

This was not my first time going to Watts tower, but it is always enjoyable to go there again. I was unable to make it during the "visiting hours," therefore I had to experience it through the iron gates. The most remarkable thing about the towers, is that artist built it as a house, which makes it stand out even more since it is an open house (while all of the actual housing surrounding it is gated up with bars on the windows.) Even though it is in area that gives the vibe of not being welcoming to others, the towers has a different message.
