Horrifyingly Beautiful

When the phrase “Beautiful things you wouldn’t expect to be beautiful” comes to mind, I can think of only one thing, my love of horror games, namely the Silent Hill Series, and the work of Francis Bacon.
I love the way that each of the artists has a really beautiful ability to amplify the intensity and power and mood for the viewer. You walk away from looking at the works affected in some way.
In my opinion, I think few people would see these games as intensely beautiful as I see them. Even Francis Bacon, someone with very little formal art training, was not accepted at first, as he shocked his viewers with grotesque images and paintings.
