Outsider art is a very broad category that is ever expanding in its definition. To me, outside art can include all forms of art that is done on a large scale, or in a way that is open to viewing to the community in which it is placed. It includes photography, architecture, performance art, painting, graffiti, and so much more.
The first image is of a street performer in Rome, Italy. There were all sorts of characters adorning the streets offering their own art form.
The second images was taken from the top of a staircase that takes you out of the information building of the Sistine Chapel. The spiral design was interesting and visually stimulating.
The third image was taken while wandering the streets in Athens, Greece. There was a lot of graffiti art that revolved around symbols and icons rather than words.
The fourth image is a shot of a sand sculpture in the south of Spain. People would work all day creating huge creatures and popular culture characters out of sand.
The final image was taken on the Newport Beach peninsula on 26th Street. This strange corner was really interesting to me, one side houses a bar while the other side hosts a tattoo parlor.
